Application

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes iodine as one of the elements that should be taken in the right amount as essential for the proper development and maintenance of good health. Approximately 38% of the world's population live in areas with varying degrees of iodine deficiency. Iodine is in fact an element that is absolutely indispensable for proper functioning of the thyroid, the gland regulating metabolism and functioning of the nervous system of the human body. It has been discovered that in areas lacking in this element there is mass occurrence of pathological hypertrophy of the thyroid gland, so called endemic goitre. According to current estimates 600 million people worldwide suffer from this disease. Approximately 38% of the world's population live in areas with varying degrees of iodine deficiency. For many years it was thought that the problem of iodine deficiency does not apply to people living in marine areas. It turns out that iodine deficiency affects nearly 90% of our country's surface, and almost 8 million people is threatened by thyroid disease. One of the effective ways to eliminate this problem is to regularly use and of the Original Zabłocie Brine, which contains the highest content of iodine in the world of up to 140 mg per liter. Solanka z Zabłocia Spółka z o. o. extracts healing brines with the world's largest iodine content, of up to 140 mg per liter.

Brines have been mined since 1892 in Zabłocie, located in the Strumień commune in Cieszyn Silesia.
It all began quite unexpectedly, namely by the exploration drilling for coal, which took place during the last decade of the nineteenth century. It was conducted near Żory, Pawłowice, Drogomyśl, Strumień (Ger. Schwarzwasser) and Zabłocie (Ger. Zablacz). Drilling was financed by Austria. According to local periodicals from that period we know that the drillhole Korona was performed in the years 1891-1892, and the it was stopped at a depth of 671 meters within the marine Miocene deposits, without reaching a series of Carboniferous deposits because of the powerful eruption of water and gas. In 1895, German and Austrian scientific journals published articles about the "New source of iodine in Zabłocie" wrote by court counselor and professor at the University of Vienna, Ernst Ludwig, who was the greatest authority in the study of healing waters and mud in the Monarchy of Austria. On the basis of the analyzes of that brine ("Kronenjodwasser"), the author reports that it has an incredibly high iodine content.
